Once each month, the Chung Tai Zen Study Group of Denver hosts a meditation retreat with visiting monks from the Chung Tai Zen Center of Sunnyvale California and the Chung Tai International Meditation Retreat Center of Texas.
What is Zen?
It is a state of mind, a mind of calmness, stability, and clarity; a mind free of delusions and confusions; a mind in accord with true reality. Such a mind is a source of wisdom and great potential. It is a state of true liberation and joy. Achieving the Zen state of mind is possible for everyone, but proper meditation and guidance is essential. The mind calming effect of Zen meditation can be beneficial to all, regardless of background and faith. This Meditation Workshop will benefit new and experienced meditators.
In addition to the half day Zen meditation retreat, we will be holding a special Buddha’s Bathing Ceremony to commemorate Buddha’s Birthday.  By bathing the Buddha, we are purifying our own minds.  The Surangama Sutra says, “If we remember and are mindful of the Buddha, we will surely see the Buddha and be awakened.”  The Flower Adomment Sutra says, “The mind is the painter, creating all the worlds.”  Join us in this memorable event and dedicate the merits towards world peace.  May all of us realize our inherent purity and infinite potential.
The Ven. Jian Gong,  Director and Dharma Teacher of Chung Tai International Meditation Retreat Center of Texas will offer a meditation retreat, and Buddha’s Bathing Ceremony on on Sunday, May 16, 2010.
